Are there other public vigils for Jordan Neely happening this weekend? Please share in comments. Thank you!
Rest In Power, Jordan Neely
Your memory (along with too many others) helps fuel my revolutionary work to help dismantle this plantation nation. I am sorry you’re another of its victims. I will continue to weaponize my privilege in order to fight on behalf of, and support Black people.
I will keep working to convince others to do the same for the rest of my life. I love Black people and admire Black culture. I am working to abolish the white supremacy, racism and classism inside myself and in the institutions that maintain these corrupt, racist, Fascist systems.
Human needs are human rights, and Jordan Neely was denied his, as are so many others, by this increasingly Fascist empire we live under. This cannot stand.
We the people must recognize this public lynching for what it is and consider what we’ve said we would do when we saw photos of public lynching parties during the Jim Crow Era.
If you’ve said you would’ve been defending and supporting Black people in defiance of the dominant culture back then, you’ve committed to a vanguard role, being ahead of most others in your circles and willing to help play a lead role in educating them and defending Black people to everyone unhesitatingly.
Are you playing that role now? Are you lying to yourself to avoid acknowledging you have a need to correct some of your thinking and actions? That’s a Bourgeoisie value, and it’s very normalized by US culture. If we want different outcomes, we must change how we do things – ourselves, individually, and collectively.
Does this work sometimes result in backlash from people in your life? Yes. Many people remain cemented in believing and practicing those Bourgeoisie values, which are rooted in white supremacy. It sucks. Do it anyway.
This is our work to do. Let’s help each other.
